Let them eat chocolate!

I was asked to created a Marie Antoinette costume for chocolatier Madame Deroubaix for promotional use at the Norwich Fashion Week Vintage Awards. The costume consisted of panniers, a taffeta underskirt and a brocade boned bodice decorated in ornate bows and pearls.

One Of A Kind Pieces

So now panto is almost over and its time to head back to my studio for 2014. Ive decided to spend some time making some one of a kind pieces to be listed on my Etsy shop. I have a bit of an addiction to buying trims and fabrics and decided to have some fun and give clients an oppurtunity to own a one off piece. I have already made one piece which has found a home already with the lovely Lizzie of Happy Slap Boutique.

Cinderella – Norwich Theatre Royal

For the last few months I have been working in house at Norwich Theatre Royal in their costume department making costumes for this years pantomime Cinderella. This not my first time doing panto, I have worked as an out worker for several productions all over the UK, I have to say how nice it is to be working in the theatre and being amongst all the magic. This year there of coarse a twist on the story with it all being set in the 1920’s at Norwich Next to Sea. I only have a few snaps as the show so far, if you are in Norwich and fancy a giggle be sure to go see it!

Dick and Dom’s Diddy Movies

Earlier in the year I spent a few months working at Pinewood Studios in London for CBBC show Dick and Dom’s Diddy movies. We created costumes for 8 mini movies which are now being aired on CBBC. Working with such an amazing designer and along side other costumiers was a great experience, I assisted on set and found the whole process very interesting and fascinating. You can watch the show on I Player here.

2013 – what a year!

Ive just realised 2013 is the year  of me being naughty with not posting on my blog, one of my many New Years resolutions for 2014 is to blog more! So since my last entry I did a very exciting thing and got married, this of coarse was an opportunity for me to do something i very rarely get a chance to do and make my self something to wear. My dress was made from 3 pieces, a steel boned corset draped in tartan silk dupion, with a ruffled skirt with tulle underskirt and bustle over skirt. Although made from several pieces I wanted the over all look of the outfit to look like a dress but to give the shape and comport a steel boned corset gives.
